I had a _really_ shitty seat [third row, off-center], though in a way maybe that's significant -- there's so much exterior-ness in this movie, which is maybe the major point of divergence from all of his other stuff. I mean, most of his movies are things that you can immerse yourself in the details of, but a lot of the scenes in _Darjeeling_ are dependent on a more outsider-ish point of view, if only because there's not an easy person for the "rest of us" to identify with. (Unless it's one of the third-world (second-world?) characters, which may be the point.)

Actually, "ONE of the third-world characters" isn't really right, anyways. As per a comment made through the link, it's more of an opportunity to relate to/objectify India as a whole, I guess.
